GENERAL MANAGER - JOB OPPORTUNITY
Luminous Voices, Calgary’s professional choir is seeking a General Manager (maternity leave replacement) to deliver the operational services essential for continued artistic success and growth. The General Manager is a key role for the Luminous Voices Music Society, receiving direction from and working most closely with the Artistic Director as well as President and Treasurer of the Board in order to facilitate the smooth operations of the society. As the first and primary contact for the organization for all operational matters, the General Manager must always behave and communicate in a manner that upholds a high standard of professionalism and that is always in the best interests of the society.
Important responsibilities include:
• Operational support including communications and marketing, sales management, concert production, office administration, budgeting
• Website and social media maintenance and content preparation, monthly newsletters (using mailchimp)
• Coordination of our evolving fund development strategy as well as grant application writing (on municipal, provincial and federal level); submitting final reports and seeking new funding opportunities
Working as an independent contractor, you will contribute on average 45 hours per month depending on the time of year (larger workload closer to concert dates is typical). The position will be of special interest to people establishing a career in arts administration or seeking a part-time commitment to complement other personal and professional activities. We offer the opportunity to be a vital part of the arts community and nurture the art of ensemble singing with Luminous Voices and the larger Calgary choral community. This position also offers independence and flexibility; a lighter summer schedule; an exceptional choir; beautiful shared workspace at cSPACE King Edward (artistic hub in Marda Loop) and an engaged Board. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working independently, capable of managing the diverse details of a small performing arts group while advancing its longer term goals.
You are collaborative, positive, and pragmatic and enjoy working with a broad range of individuals and organizations. You must be able to handle a large workload and conflicting priorities closer to concerts (4 per season).
